Keerthy Suresh's Penguin was released on Amazon Prime on June 19 . The makers took a brave step in releasing the movie directly in OTT platform because of Covid-19. Unfortunately, the movie got negative response but that did not effect the profits for the makers.
The makers revealed that the budget of the movie is just 4 crores. The Amazon Prime made a deal of 7.5 crores along with pay per views. Also the satellite rights of the movie were sold for 6 crores(all languages) and including the dubbing rights the profits will touch 10 crore mark.
So despite the negative reviews, they made some good profits. So this will surely motivate other movie makers who are thinking of releasing their movies directly in OTT platforms.
